3/29/2014 – AHF issues Statement in reaction to the March 10, 2014 letter of former presidents of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) concerning recent ambassadorial nominees: We welcome the nomination of Ambassador-Designate Colleen Bradley-Bell and trust that she will work tirelessly to advance American/Hungarian relations. Members of the Hungarian American community believe that U.S. ambassadors to Hungary, whether career Foreign Service Officers or political appointees, should be genuinely interested in the country, the Hungarian nation and its history, accomplishments, and hopes and fears.

The ambassadors should be open to new approaches and solutions to strengthen American/Hungarian relations and disregard stereotypes that occasionally have caused unnecessary and avoidable misunderstandings resulting in periodic expressions of skepticism toward the United States. Above all, members of  the community strongly believe that great care, even greater than before, be given to assure that U.S. policies and the articulation of these policies by ambassadors be even-handed and bereft of even a hint of favoritism toward one political party over another. This consideration is especially important now in view of the disturbing events unfolding in Ukraine, including the concern of the members of the Hungarian minority who fear that Kiev will disregard their rights, and American geopolitical interests in the region.

Pártatlanságot kérnek az amerikai magyarok Colleen Bell nagykövettől.

3/29/2014 – Amerikában tiltakoznak a budapesti nagykövet kinevezése ellen A diplomáciai poszthoz szükséges minimális tudással sem rendelkeznek – fogalmaz a diplomatákat tömörítő szövetség.
