As noted by CSIS, the event examined "the strategic relationship between the United States and Central Eastern European states (CEE) with the purpose of generating concrete policy recommendations for the incoming U.S. administration." The conference included an overview of U.S.-CEE relations, security priorities, economic and public diplomacy priorities, and conclusions and recommendations. In addition to the distinguished panelists and the moderator, Janusz Bugajski, Director of the New European Democracies Project of the CSIS, Kori Schake, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator John McCain and Phil Gordon, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Barack Obama addressed the conference. Frank Koszorus, Jr., the Federation's co-president and chairman of the International Relations Committee, attended the conference. "CSIS is to be congratulated for sponsoring this timely conference, timely because it focused on a region that has been somewhat ignored despite its strategic importance to the United States," said Mr. Koszorus. "The American Hungarian Federation is proud to have been a General Sponsor of this significant conference," he added.
