| AHF PRESENTS: June 15th - The Tükrös Hungarian Folk Ensemble | ||||||||
The famous and popular ”Tükrös” is coming to the United States. The orchestra will be touring in America with two incredible dancers Zsuzsanna & Norbert Busai. “Táncház” after the concert: The performing dancers will get the crowd dancing and teach you the basic Hungarian Folk Dance steps. We guarantee that you will have an amazing time during & after the concert! The concert will raise funds for the benefit of the sister Church of Dicsőszentmárton in Transylvania. More information will be available about the Dicsőszentmárton Church (now in Rumania) at the concert. Tükrös won the ‘Young Masters of Folk Arts’ Award in 2001. Their latest album “Our Transylvanian Heath” won the “Fonogram” Award for Authentic Hungarian Folk Music in 2010. The Orchestra has toured throughout Europe, the United States and Australia with various dance ensembles. Musicians of Tükrös are gifted and spirited proponents of traditional folk music. This music will transport you into the village lives of the films Gadjo Dilo and Latcho Drom. Perhaps Béla Bartók described it best; "beautiful to the ear, beautiful to the eye." Musicians: Attila Halmos - first violinist, voice. Péter Árendás – viola. Gergely Koncz - violin and viola. Endre Liber – cimbalom (dulcimer), viola, vocals. András Lelkes – double bass Dancers: Norbert Busai was accepted in the World-famous Budapest Ensemble at the early age of nineteen. In 1997 he received the Young Master Artist Award, and graduated from the Hungarian Folk Dance Academy in 2011. Zsuzsanna Busai was a member of the Budapest Ensemble. Since 2003 she has been a member of the Jaszsag Folk Ensemble. In 2001 she received the Young Master Artist. The Tükrös Hungarian Folk Ensemble was founded in 1986 and today is one of Hungary’s most respected revival folk bands. They specialize in collecting authentic folk music from remote villages of Hungary and Transylvania, and from archival recordings, preserving and presenting this music in its most authentic form yet in a style most entertaining and suitable for all audiences. While they play folk music from all the areas of Hungary, their focus is on the areas of Szatmár (North-East of Hungary) and Mezőség (Transylvania). In the August of 2001 the ensemble received the Award of Young Masters of Folk Art from the Minister of the Cultural Heritage.
